Finerenone is a new, selective, nonsteroidal mineralocorticoid receptor agonist (MRA) that is different from available steroidal MRAs. This webinar explores how T2DM affects the development of CKD and how finerenone could impact the treatment management in this patient population. Current guidelines recommend a combination of therapies to reduce the risk of CKD in T2DM1-7. Yet, even then a residual risk of cardio-renal events remains high in affected patients8-13. In patients with CKD and T2D, treatment with finerenone resulted in lower risks of CKD progression and cardiovascular events than placebo5,6.

Learning objectives
At the end of the webinar, participants will be able to:
- Describe the need for a new therapeutic option in eligible patients with Type 2 Diabetes and Chronic Kidney disease
- Understand the clinical studies that were conducted with finerenone
- Be able to initiate finerenone taking serum potassium and the estimated
glomerular filtration rate into consideration
- Counsel patients and HCPs regarding the efficacy and tolerability of finerenone in
a hospital and community setting
